AlphaTheta’s new DJM-V5 mixer “condenses the essence” of its larger DJM-V10 siblingAlphaTheta has squished down the essence of its DJM-V10 mixer into a new, smaller unit with upgraded tools and effects.
At its core, the new DJM-V5 is a three-channel mixer that draws on the design of its larger sibling, offering a more refined feature set and streamlined layout for more flexibility and freedom. The mixer includes many of the key features of the DJM-V10, including the 4-band EQ, compressor, filter, and SendFX, despite its 30 percent smaller home.

Under the hood, the V5 harnesses studio-grade 96 kHz / 64-bit mixing DSP processing, with 32-bit A/D and D/A converters from ESS Technology built into the channel input and master output sections. Each audio component has been optimised for the unit, and AlphaTheta says that repeated listening tests were conducted in real-world environments, including clubs.
The DJM-V5 also lets you control levels with the 60-mm long-throw channel faders from the DJM-V10-LF, and when you lower one, a new Soft Mix Curve fader mode automatically applies subtle high-frequency attenuation for smoother blends. There are also six effects on board: Short Delay, Reverb, Shimmer, Tape Echo, PingPong, and Echo-Verb. Each channel features a dedicated send knob so you can adjust the amount of effect applied to individual tracks.
All three channels feature a dedicated filter knob with three selectable modes: low-pass, high-pass, and the newly added cross-pass – making its first appearance on an AlphaTheta mixer. With the cross-pass filter, you can retain low frequencies while gently filtering the mids and highs to add variation to vocals or melodies. Another first on the DJM-V5 is the built-in SonicLink transmitter, enabling low-latency wireless monitoring when paired with compatible headphones.
The AlphaTheta DJM-V5 is available now for $1,999 (Canada, LATAM) / $2,199 (USA) / £1,739.00. Find out more via AlphaTheta.
