Speaking about their new track, the husband-and-wife duo St. Lucia describe "Falling Asleep" as "an invitation to pause, reflect, and embrace the unconventional." In honor of their intention, I present to you a product of my own pause, reflection, and embrace of the unconventional.We are beings, right? (Bear with me now.) Part of what that entails includes these networks that spark off as preferences. I like this and that, and so do Bob and Nalania. One such realm where this takes place is music, which harnesses patterns of emotion, sound, melody, rhythm, and the like. We hear a song that aligns with our tastes, we like it, and others with similar preferences might too.Now, I fear I’m just stating the obvious, but that sometimes has its worth. So, take this proverbial hand I’m reaching out to you, and let’s continue on this journey."Falling Asleep" settled into my so-called "net of preference"™ like so:I found the instrumentals to be punchy, with the violin adding a head-turning touch. The lyrical content begins soft and compassionate, then delves into existential curiosities in the latter half with lines like, "I’m trying to write a relatable song / But my problems keep being so existential." The song begins with an offer of help and ends with a plea for it, portraying the ever-dancing change that we are.Just as all things change, so too do tastes, but I hope "Falling Asleep" sparks your enjoyment... even if just for a moment.
