Slaughter Beach - Serenity

Sounds like: The Radio Dept., Alex G, MGMT

What's so good?

Through listening to "Serenity," I've come to find Slaughter Beach — a Danish indie pop trio — really endearing. To write something so vulnerable shows a great deal of gentleness, whether that be within the artists themselves or in their approach to dealing with the human condition. And isn't that what the world could use right now? A gentleness, a going within, a seeing of the struggle... and then turning it into a sweet ditty. The drums are the standout for me, but the vocal production is delicately complex and steals the spotlight too. Speaking of the track, the band explains:"In a way [the song] tries to encapsulate the feeling of being in a sort of limbo where you’re waiting for something to happen, and the unease that follows when nothing [does]. Most of all, it is about longing [to make] peace with the way things are and the relief of accepting not being in control of things."
