B.Miles - Separate Rooms
Sounds like: Yehra, Henry Green, Milosh
What's so good?
B.Miles' latest EP Separate Rooms sonically encapsulates feelings of growth, and more importantly, the upward journey of feminine maturation. It's hopeful (for the future,) it's real (for the present,) and it's nostalgic (for the past.)The EP as a whole is emotive and raw, and with only a 20-minute run time, it's worth the listen. Following the artist's struggles as we've been covering her over the years, I'm not going to lie: I'm rooting for her! So it's lovely to come across the lead single "Separate Rooms," with inspirations from 60s Serge Gainsbourg to blog-era synthpop. We've previously covered "One Trick Pony" but it's "The Year I Felt Cool" that's my runner-up -- it's gentle with undertones of jazz and saccharine vocals and vocal samples. All in all, B.Miles knocks it out of the park with "Separate Rooms" and yes, this South African did just make two baseball references (I think!)
