SoundCloud now lets you share releases exclusively with followersSoundCloud has launched a new feature called Follower Exclusive Releases, letting Artist Pro users share tracks exclusively with their followers, either for a limited time only or indefinitely.
This new feature builds on its ethos of community, and is a way for artists to reward their most loyal listeners by deepening relationships. It means fans can hear tracks before others, DM artists directly, and even engage with music while it’s still in development. Artists can give their followers the first listen to early demos or something finalised as a surprise drop.READ MORE: Electro-Harmonix partners with MixWave to bring its classic pedals to plugin form
The feature launches with support from Dutch DJ and producer Chris Stussy, who will release his track What makes you feel exclusively to his SoundCloud followers ahead of the full release of his debut album Lost, Found & Forgotten…, arriving 3 April.
“I’ve been using SoundCloud since the start. During my early days I was uploading a lot of podcasts and recorded sets. I sometimes gave away a free download or posted snippets of upcoming tracks I was making.
“For this occasion I’d like to share What makes you feel… as a thank you for everyone who’s been listening to me on the platform all those years. It’s part of the Forgotten side of my album and I’m playing this track a lot as my intro the last couple of months. Enjoy this one, all the best,” he says.View this post on Instagram
Follower Exclusive Releases follows on from a number of other SoundCloud upgrades for artists, which launched in 2025. Back in July, it was announced that the platform had partnered with elasticStage, allowing musicians to release their work on vinyl.
In the same month, SoundCloud also rolled out a text feature allowing artists to connect with their fans on a more personal level, and announced the integration of Hook, an app that lets you legally remix songs for social media.

When we started creating PublMe I was thinking quite a lot about Spotify's success and the main message from Daniel too. The #MusicIndustry economy and #Technology already changed and for #artists now the key is sustainability, otherwise, it is just a hobby. #AI is cool and some people use the tool for profit, but what's next and what an asset is?

Will.i.am: “I can’t be that critical of AI – because I have a career sampling music”The debate surrounding AI in music is complex and highly nuanced. Many are critical of fully fledged AI music generators – saying their content is flooding streaming services and diluting the creativity of real human artists – while others hail the potential of artificial intelligence to expedite the creative process.
Black Eyed Peas superstar Will.i.am is one of many industry veterans urging people to be more open to the adoption of AI in the creative process. Back in 2023, he spoke on how AI was still in its infancy, saying: “It’s Super Mario Bros. right now – we ain’t even got to Call of Duty yet.”READ MORE: This comprehensive Softube plugin bundle was over £1,000, but you can get it right now for just £129
And speaking to CNBC in Davos, Switzerland last week, the singer once again revealed his thoughts on AI, saying it’s not dissimilar to the rise of sampling decades ago.
“Imagine it’s 1970, we’re talking about jazz here, right?” he says. “A jazz musician would say, ‘What do you think about these samplers that are coming? People just sampling our stuff that we did back in the past. You think that’s music?’
“Turns out that that’s the form of hip-hop sampling and using technology to reimagine and chop up and reconfigure… So I can’t be that critical [of] AI, because I have a career sampling music…”
He also suggests that developers who write the code for AI music generators should also be given some credit in the creative process.
“At the core of AI music is some developer, and though that’s their art, you can’t discredit their art for creating that algorithm to create,” he says.
“Yes, they did borrow from music. They did train on, you know, the entire library that humans have made and that people should be paid for…
“We’re going to get to a point 20 years from now where it would have evolved, and it’s not about training on yesterday’s music. We have to prepare ourselves for that, too. Because the AI that we’re concerned about is not here yet, and that is the AI that’s creating just on it’s own.”The post Will.i.am: “I can’t be that critical of AI – because I have a career sampling music” appeared first on MusicTech.
