We believe that it is the tiny imperfections in a sound that makes it sound intimate and human, and the softer you play, the more these otherwise barely audible details come to the foreground, so in order to create the most intimate and human library we could, we chose to focus only on very, very quiet playing. To capture these soft details, we had to get close, which is why Intimate Violin was recorded with three close mic perspectives, the closest of which was a tiny condenser mic floated inside the body of the violin itself. The super close mic was placed about 30 cm above the bows contact point with the string and together with the more conventional close, mid and far perspectives it is easy to shape the sound to whatever you need. Iremia comes with 3 different sustains: without mute, with a standard mute and with a big rubber practice mute, a very delicate and fragile sound, and each of these sustains comes in 3 dynamic intensities from a whisper quiet ppp to a more robust but still soft single p. The textures in Iremia all comes in muted and non-muted versions, and with the crossfade patch you can even seamlessly move from muted into un-muted, something which is only possible on a virtual instrument. The textures are all improvised and great for chordal playing, as you have different notes subtly poking out of the texture at random times, adding interest to background parts. The organic swells come in 4,3,2 and 1 second lengths all in muted and non-muted versions, and gives you an instant Scandi Noir feel. All in all, Intimate Violin comes with 11 different types of sustains, 10 moving and evolving, episodic textures as well as 3 different types of natural swells in 4,3,2 and 1 second lengths. The Swedish tech firm has been shaking up expectations all year with its Flipped Out ’25 campaign, which kicked off in June with a “set your own price” experiment for the coveted OP-1 Field synth, sampler, and drum machine. An interactive slider lets users pick a price anywhere between £1,399 and £9,999 for the synth – because why not?

According to the brand, it’s all part of “a delicate experiment” in testing what’s possible, with more offers promised throughout 2025, “or until the world is a little bit more stable,” TE teases on its website.
True to that playful spirit, the company has now taken things a step further with a giveaway. Enter the Computer-2, a plastic, snap-together successor to the 2021 Computer-1 aluminium case.
Limited to one per customer (shipping excluded), Computer-2 is a small form factor case designed to house a mini-ITX motherboard, SFX power supply, and dual-slot graphics cards up to 180mm.
Its single-piece, semi-transparent plastic body features flexible living hinges and snap hooks, i.e. “no screws needed”. Assembly, it seems, is almost too easy.
Why free? Teenage Engineering calls it a marketing experiment, but also a mission: to create “the cheapest computer case in the world.” Their website notes, “Our engineers worked day and night to really push the limits and they went beyond all expectations. They engineered it all the way down to a cost of 0. Now, that’s Teenage Engineering.”

One of those reasons is how I love to dig into curriculum planning in my music classes.

This front-loading will definitely pay off in the long run by making your lessons more intentional, engaging, and inspirational!

But to do this, one of the places you need to start is with the elementary music scope and sequence.

This isn’t my first rodeo, and I know a lot of people who develop their own. Today, I wanted to take a look at some different ideas to help inspire you in your music making.

The “Ideal” Elementary Music Scope And Sequence

Listed below is what some consider the “ideal” general music scope and sequence.

It’s based on the Kodaly approach to music education and my own experience.

Now, truth be told, this probably isn’t as “practical” as a lot of music teachers would like it. After all, we know how things go in schools.

We can make all the best plans in the world, but something always comes up. Snow days, getting pulled to sub, illness, concerts, assemblies, testing, etc.

Still, the scope and sequence is useful because it informs your goals for the year and beyond.

It also unifies your instruction and year-by-year plan into something more cohesive.

I’ve never known anyone who actually gets through everything on this list, but it’s still good to keep it all in mind.

What Is Scope And Sequence In Music Education?

Scope and sequence are crucial components of educational planning and curriculum development.

They provide a framework for organizing and sequencing the content, skills, and concepts that students will learn over a period of time.

In education, scope refers to the breadth and depth of the curriculum, while sequence refers to the order and progression of the curriculum.

Let’s take a closer look at what scope and sequence entail and why they are important in educational settings.

What is Scope?

If you want to build or adapt your own S&S, it’s worth it to keep these steps in mind.

Sure, you can probably short-cut through this process, but to do so means you might miss something along the line.

Also, pay close attention to the steps where you revisit the S&S. Nothing is perfect and adaptation is expected. Plus, the teacher you are now won’t be the teacher you are in a year or five or ten or twenty.

Identify Curriculum Standards: Review the national, state, or district-level curriculum standards for elementary music education. These standards outline the knowledge, skills, and concepts that students should learn at each grade level.

Conduct Needs Assessment: Assess the needs and abilities of the students in your specific school or district. Consider factors such as their prior musical experiences, cultural backgrounds, and developmental levels. This information will help you tailor the scope and sequence to meet the needs of your students.

Define Learning Objectives: Based on the curriculum standards and needs assessment, clearly define the learning objectives for each grade level. These objectives should be specific, measurable, and achievable, and aligned with the standards.
