Volumio launches AI discovery tool in its music player to help users to find “hidden gems”Italian audio company Volumio has launched Volumio AI, the latest version of its Music Player application. Now boasting a Supersearch feature, users can uncover musical “hidden gems” through the power of artificial intelligence.

The Volumio Music Player ecosystem, which was launched back in 2013, allows users to access their local music files and stream from their favourite music services such as TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and more, via one unified interface. ​
In its latest upgrade, Volumio says it is “one of the first music apps in the world to fully integrate an AI search function”. The new Supersearch feature utilises Open AI’s ChatGPT, to point listeners in the direction of “the perfect soundtrack for every moment”. By describing what you would like to hear in just a few words, Supersearch will give users an array of recommendations.
Other features of Volumio AI are:

Related artists and albums: Suggestions for other artists and albums you might like are presented as you browse. If those related artists or albums are located in your library – whether in your favourite streaming service or local files – Volumio AI’s Supersearch will be able to access them.
Infinity Playback: When you reach the end of your playback queue, new related tracks will automatically load.
Redesigned user interface: Described as “clutter free”, its interface has been revamped to make navigating through artists and albums much more streamlined.

Volumio can be installed on microcomputers such as Raspberry Pi, ASUS Tinkerboard or any PC, and can be controlled directly via your phone, computer or tablet.
Volumio’s Music Player is available now as a free version, or a paid premium version that includes the new Supersearch, and its other AI-powered features.

HBO’s ‘Succession’ and ‘The Last of Us’ lead 2023 Emmy nominationsThe 2023 Emmy Awards nominations were announced Wednesday, with HBO and Max earning the most nominations and Netflix trailing closely behind. HBO/Max nabbed 127 Emmy nominations, marking the 21st time that it has surpassed all networks and streaming services in a single year.
Notably, HBO’s “Succession” had a record-breaking total, receiving 27 noms. Last year, “Succession” was the most nominated show of 2022 with 25 nominations and took home four wins. Overall, the show has won 13 Emmys. The hit drama series wrapped up its final and fourth season in May.
Additionally, “Succession” saw three actors nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series— Brian Cox (plays Logan Roy), Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy) and Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy). This is the first time that three actors in a series have been simultaneously nominated for the Lead Actor category.
Other nominated HBO shows include the hit video game adaptation “The Last of Us” with 24 nods and “The White Lotus” with 23.
Max’s (previously HBO Max) closest competitor in the race is Netflix, which earned 103 nominations thanks to popular titles such as “Wednesday,” “The Crown,” “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” “Beef” and “Dead to Me,” among others.
Hulu continues to grow its haul, getting 64 nominations this year after hitting a record of 58 in 2022. Hulu only had 26 nominations in 2021. “The Bear,” a new Hulu series, was the most nominated with 13 nods.
Once again, Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso” made up the bulk of the streamers’ 54 nominations, with 21 in total, a minuscule upgrade from its 20 nominations the year prior.
In terms of free, ad-supported streaming services, The Roku Channel and Amazon Freevee got 12 and four nominations, respectively. Roku original “WEIRD: the Al Yankovic Story” got the bulk of the nominations at eight total, and Amazon Freevee’s “Jury Duty” had four.
The 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled to air on September 18 on Fox. However, there reportedly may be a delay, given the ongoing writer’s strike.

Disclosure’s new album, ALCHEMY, will feature no samples or collaborationsBritish electronic music duo Disclosure have announced their fourth album, ALCHEMY, with a release date of this Friday (14 July).

Taking to Instagram to reveal the news, brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence shared the album artwork and track listing.
Following their departure from Capitol Records, the pair are releasing ALCHEMY through Apollo Records – their own imprint – in partnership with AWAL. Looking at the track list below, you’ll notice that there are no collaborations on this album, unlike previous records that have featured the likes of The Weeknd, Miguel and London Grammar. They’re also avoiding the use of any samples on this album.
In a statement, they say: “This record is a celebration of us feeling liberated right now. We’re no longer signed to a major record label. We’re not going to tour this record. We can do whatever we like and be super creative.”
The new album reportedly boasts plenty of Howard Lawrence’s vocals, with production aficionado Guy Lawrence supposedly creating “everything from jungle breaks and trance-like supersaw synth riffs to rapid tempo four-to-the-floor club tracks.”
In the post, which you can see below, Disclosure said “We love you all & thank you for the years of support. We’re just getting started.”

BMI Celebrates multi-platinum PardiBMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) brought the Nashville community together yesterday to celebrate the success behind BMI singer/songwriter and multi-Platinum entertainer Jon Pardi’s most recent chart-toppers, “Heartache Medication” and “Last Night Lonely.” The double #1 party hosted by BMI and SESAC was held at Winners Bar & Grill where the industry applauded Pardi and his producers Bart Butler and Ryan Gore. “Heartache Medication” co-writer Natalie Hemby (BMI) was on hand as well as “Last Night Lonely” songwriters Dylan Marlowe (BMI), Jimi Bell (BMI) and Joe Fox (SESAC) who celebrated their first #1.
