Like the first Transit, Transit 2 features Macro, which allows you to sweep all linked parameters from any combination of chosen effects blocks to create easy risers, washouts, filter sweeps and more. Naturally, Macro can also be automated within your DAW.

Also making a return is its Sequencer, which allows you to set motion effects into action at precise points in your arrangement by aligning with your DAW’s grid.

First among the new modes is Follower, which makes linked parameters react to the intensity of the incoming audio so they move “dynamically” with your mix. With compressor-like controls, you can set the range of motion, sensitivity of detection and attack and release time to finetune how much the parameters react to the audio.

“Follower mode turns Transit 2 into the ultimate envelope-controlled multiFX, adding dynamic control to any linked parameter,” says Baby Audio.

Next up is an LFO mode, which enables you to sweep linked parameters back and forth with familiar waveshapes including Sine, Triangle, Saw and Square. You can either sync the LFO to the host tempo with divisions from 1/64th note to 8 bars or even set it freely in Hz.

Transit 2 users also gain access to a Gate mode, which allows you to trigger tempo-synced transitions with a click – with a Pendulum option to sweep the transition from minimum to maximum and back again over the selected duration – as well as a Sidechain, which responds to the dynamics of a different source signal than the input being fed into Transit 2.

And if four new motion modes wasn’t enough, Transit 2 comes loaded with 10 new effects modules:

Loop: For stutter and repeat FX

Reverser: Tempo-synced playback reverser with speed settings

Warp: Two-in-one pitch shifter and time stretcher

Retroverb: Alternative to Transit’s primary reverb, based on early digital FDN reverb techniques from the ‘80s

Mod Filter: Stereo filter bank with multiple filters

Compressor: Traditional downwards compressor

Pitch+: Pitch shifter with a tempo-syncable LFO

Speaker: Transistor radio/lo-fi emulation

Analog Chorus: Alternative to Transit’s primary chorus effect

EQ: Three-band EQ

Transit 2 also comes with 838 curated presets by Andrew Huang and other sound designers including Venus Theory, Zardonic and more. Presets from Transit 1 are also included.

Transit 2 is available now for $79 – existing Transit users can upgrade for just $29 – and runs as a VST, VST3, AU and AAX plugin on MacOS and Windows.

For more information, head to Baby Audio.

The post Meet Transit 2, Baby Audio’s new and improved transition and motion tool made in collaboration with Andrew Huang appeared first on MusicTech.
