What's so good?

I'm not one to post folk songs that often, and when I do I usually start out by saying that I don't post many folks song. At this point I'm a bit of a broken record.Fortunately there are folks constantly pushing boundaries in the folk world, crafting new sounds that manage to pull my ear in and get me to listen. In this case, on repeat.Madilyn Mei's "Side Quest Song" is ... really sweet? I think that's one of the best ways I can describe both her vocal delivery and vocals here. Not that that's much of a surprise. She's got a history of releasing similarly playful songs. This one sounds quite a bit more mature than her often stripped-back acoustic songs, and I think I actually like it for that. To be fair, both styles have their place, but it's cool to see an artist evolve/develop like this. There's an EP in the works, but we don't know much more than that. In the meantime, you can flip through Madilyn's prior releases on Spotify.

1.
