Sounds like:
Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Patrick Watson

What's so good?

It's been roughly 20 years since I found myself listening to Sufjan Stevens' extremely sad catalogue of music. I've tried to go back to his early albums once or twice in the last decade, but they're almost always too sad. That context is important when one considers that Joel Porter's "Bad Habits" sounds almost exactly like a song that Sufjan Stevens would have penned way back in the day. And yet, he's managed to pull me into the emotional turmoil even though I'm basically a middle-aged man without too much emotional baggage (lucky me, right?).Perhaps that's part of it though: maybe I need a little bit of sadness in my life as we head into the tail-end of summer. So in that regard, thanks Joel.

1. Original post: Joel Porter - Bad Habits

2.
